A public option
I think Governor Charlie Crist is wrong about a lot of issues, but he really missed the mark when he said: "The public option, I think, may be sort of a Trojan horse to a government take over of health care."
I see too many Florida families facing bankruptcy because of out-of-control health care costs. This is a real problem that we need to find real solutions to. A public option is exactly what we need to bring down costs and introduce competition into the health care industry.
Stand up for a public option and tell Governor Crist that he's out of touch with the needs of Florida's families. Join my fight today.
Governor Crist claims to have a plan - but it's not very good. Under his Cover Florida healthcare program, only about 4,500 people have signed up.
We're facing a crisis - just take a look at the numbers:
- Four million Floridians remain uninsured. Cover Florida covers just one-tenth of one percent of those people.
- Nearly 80,000 Floridians have lost their health insurance since Cover Florida began releasing statistics in March. These aren't just statistics, these are our grandmothers, our cousins, and our friends.
- More than 18% of Floridians don't have health insurance - worse than all but four other states. That's just unacceptable; Florida should be a leader, not straggling at the end of the line.
Thanks,
Kendrick
