New Poll
We’re releasing a new poll today, and I wanted you to hear it first:
Despite all of his name recognition and his massive campaign war chest, Governor Crist’s support is surprisingly soft. Fewer than 1 in 3 voters say now they are certain to support him on Election Day.
This is a much smaller “base” than I expected - and a huge opportunity for us to convince swing voters.
We know just what to do, but we need your help. We can only make the phone calls, knock on the doors, organize on the internet, and blanket the airwaves with TV ads with the generous support of grassroots donors like you. None of it will be easy, and none of it will be free.
The data says we can beat Governor Crist, as long as our campaign resources stay competitive. I know I can count on you to keep us on track.
Two key pieces of additional polling data stand out to me.
First, Florida voters are laser-focused on improving our battered economy. A majority of Floridians think our state is on the wrong track and that Governor Crist is not doing enough to bring our economy back.
The voters believe, as I do, that we must work with President Obama to put people back to work, invest in our infrastructure, and turn things around. It’s our job to make sure those voters know I’m on their side.
Because when Floridians hear our campaign’s commitment to helping President Obama create good jobs, we beat Governor Crist 46-41. The only thing standing between us and victory in 2010 is a massive organizing effort to make sure every voter hears our message.
Florida is a big, diverse state - and you know that campaigns here cost a ton. But as long as I can rely on the grassroots to give this campaign everything we need to reach every single voter, I know we can win. Our new poll backs that up.
This new poll is an extraordinary development in this race. I guarantee you that Governor Crist and the rest of the Republicans are on the phone this morning trying to figure out how to blunt our momentum.
